Michael I. Miller named IEEE Fellow

Michael I. Miller, Bessie Darling Massey Professor, director of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Center for Imaging Science, as well as co-director of the Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute, has been elected as an IEEE Fellow, effective on January 1, 2020.

Miller is being recognized for contributions to medical imaging, brain mapping, and computational anatomy. Using data from patient brain scans, he has pioneered the development of computational tools aimed at understanding the structural and functional predictors of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders for early detection of disease.

The IEEE is the world’s leading professional association for advancing technology for humanity. Through its 400,000 plus members in 160 countries, the association is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.
